I found this yesterday. Someone posted a picture of comments on YouTube and posted it on deviantART. At first, it incited a chuckle. But then, I thought:

But seriously, it could be a matter of someone whose first language isn’t English. Or someone who uses a dialect of English or a creole that comes from English. So; that response can be seen as quite snobbish. (Speaking as someone whose native language is a creole.)

I mean, I’d be the first person to tell you that grammar is important, but the fact that language diversity is something I’m aware of, I don’t think such a response is appropriate. Even if this person is an English speaker, it’s YouTube for crying out loud; not a university thesis.

I have been guilty of this kind of thing myself; so… in a sense, I’m ranting against myself.

I’ve never though about that! I will probably still chuckle, but I’ll consider that possibility as well. It’s funny: if we were to take the first guy’s comment as grammatically correct (which it is in Patois), then the second guy would be totally wrong.
